Every Thursday I participate in a weekly challenge to make sure that I am in more pictures with my kids. (Click here to see some of my past posts.) And I am loving this challenge. I know that I will never revert back to my old ways of only photographing my kids.
But nearly every week, I complain about how I look in the photo. I generally say something like "this isn't the best photo of me but at least I'm in it." It got me thinking about what I do consider to be "the best photo of me."
Of course, I don't actually think I look great in the following photo. It was a ridiculously hot and long day at the animal park. But the photo was taken by Jack. He was two years old at the time. I was mid-sentence and probably asking him to quit fooling with the camera and to keep up.
I guess what I love about this photo is that this is how Jack saw me, his mama.
If your kids don't have a camera, it's high time to get them one. No, the quality isn't great but I love seeing the world through their eyes. For the longest time nearly all of Jack's pics were his feet and Logan's were of the ceiling or sky. Luckily they've gotten a bit better as the years have gone on.
My 52 Week Challenge post will be a bit late this week. I hope to get a pic of me and the boys tomorrow...but I'm sure it won't be half as special as the one Jack took of me almost 2 years ago.
ah thats a great picture! I love kid pictures they capture us when we are not posing...I love that!ReplyDelete
Awww! That is cute!ReplyDelete
My oldest daughter has a camera but she hardly uses it! My little ones try to use mine but I'm scared they're going to drop it! LOL
Oh I love this photo for the reason described. What a fantastic idea.ReplyDelete
So cute! It looks great...he's got talent!ReplyDelete
I have a photo album of pictures from a disposable camera that I gave Alex a few years ago...and there's alot of my middle portion of my body, with my head cut off! ha ha! and of the floor and of Emily...because she was so litle and at floor level! Very fun! They still like to go back and look at them...they're funny!
I so agree with you - every kid should get to take pictures. It's just as much fun as a parent looking through their eyes as it is for them to play with the camera!ReplyDelete
I love that picture of you. Some of our biggest laughs were trying to let the kids take our pictures and getting ourselves in the frame.LOLReplyDelete
This is cute. I have 4 awards awaiting you at my blog!!ReplyDelete
I really like that picture :)ReplyDelete
I bought Jenna a Fischer Price digital camera for Christmas because she loves taking pictures. But the batteries have a ridiculously short life and the picture quality is far from ideal. We both have been very disappointed.ReplyDelete
I love letting kids take pictures though. They have so much fun and i love to see what they find interesting enough to photograph.
So cute, you are such a fun Mom! Really beautiful too!ReplyDelete
Wow, I like the concept of what you said. To view mom from their perspective. That clicked with me.ReplyDelete
I also have a million pictures that Caleb has taken of his feet. Both boys have their own cameras and if they confuse the two cameras I look through and pick out Caleb's feet.
Good picture, Carey!
I love the idea of getting a photo from a child's perspective. :)ReplyDelete
Thanks for making me think about how my kids see me! We got our kids Fisher Price digital cameras. They are durable and lots of fun.ReplyDelete
This is a great post, aren't kids grand? I have pics Natasha has taken of the floor, my foot , her foot, the side of the refridge, and other precious things. We were going to throw the most but decided to save them, just for the fun of it.ReplyDelete
We got Hannah a Fisher Price camera for Christmas last year and she loves it! Most of the pictures are of our dogs butts or their noses but i love to look and see what she captures!!ReplyDelete
I love the idea!
