The other side of the camera - The cure for insomnia

Forever In Blue Jeans

I'm participating in what I think is a really smart weekly challenge hosted by Carin at Forever in Blue Jeans. It seems like mamas spend an awful lot of time behind the camera. The idea of this challenge is for mamas to get on the other side of the camera in at least one photo a week.

When my boys grow up they'll inherit hundreds of thousands of photos taken from their childhood, but how many of those will show their mama? At least for this year I can answer 52!

Recently, every night, I've read the boys Dr. Seuss's Sleep Book at bedtime. The book is such a yawn! No, I mean, really...the book is filled with yawning creatures. And since everyone knows that yawns are contagious, you can imagine what happens to me and the boys while reading. Yyyaaawwnnn... I'm getting sleepy just thinking about it...

Here is the first page...

The news
Just came in
From the County of Keck
That a very small bug
By the name of Van Vleck
Is yawning so wide
You can look down his neck.

This may not seem
Very important, I know.
But it is. So I'm bothering
Telling you so.

-Dr. Seuss, 1962

Now, whenever I yawn, Jack asks me if I caught it from Van Vleck.

What's that? Are you yawning?

I guess I should have warned you not to read this post unless it was your bedtime! Sorry!

  7. I love the idea of Moms getting into pictures. We recently returned from Disney, and I'm not in a single picture with my boys. I'm going to start trying to get Daddy to take the reigns.
    Stopping by from SITS.

  11. OHHHH....I'M FEELING SLEEPY......

    I just yawwwwned. NO LIE!

I love that Dr. Seuss. No one can jibber jabber quite like him! I love everything he writes (even if it makes me sleepy). I wonder how many writers get that kind of compliment.

  24. This is one of our favorites. I've kept all our Dr. Seuss books still in our L.R. because I love them so much and even though my kids are teens now, I've seen every one of them grab a stack of Dr. Seuss and sit and re-read them, remembering their favorites. His work has been a gift to many generations. This picture will be a gift to your kids when they are older...

  25. Great picture. Somehow in all the Dr. Suess I've read in my 17 years of Bedtime stories I have missed this one. Of course by the time we get halfway throught the BON (Book of the night) I am usually yawning anyway. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah! I love comments! Feel free to leave me one (or two or three).
But remember what your mama said..."If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."
Thanks!
