This so could have been a "Not me!" Monday post because I can barely believe I was this kind of wife this week. But it's so sad that I thought it deserved it's own post.
Scott recently had a birthday. It was tradition that on his birthday as a child he was given a chocolate eclair. When we got married, I carried on this tradition by visiting a french bakery the day before his birthday and buying him a chocolate eclair (or two) for breakfast on the morning of his birthday.
This year I took slacking to a whole new level for Scott's birthday. I was planning on buying him the eclairs the day before. I swear I was.
But he asked me about it and had decided he wanted to make his own eclairs. So the day before his birthday, he looked up a recipe and bought the ingredients. On the morning of his birthday, he asked the boys to "help" and set about making his own eclairs.
Yes, my husband made his own birthday treat.
Additionally, I had absolutely no plans for the day. But then I remembered seeing a sign about a classic car show happening that day. Men love classic cars, right? So we packed up the boys and headed out.
It turned out to be a nice event...the boys loved seeing the cars and Scott and I loved seeing their excited faces. We had to cut things a bit early. To make matters more complicated, the in-laws were driving out to watch the boys while Scott and I head to the movies to celebrate our upcoming wedding anniversary.
So we headed home, met the in-laws and dashed to a movie. After gorging ourselves on popcorn, Scott and I were rather full. So I didn't bother making him a birthday dinner. Again, classy thoughtful wife, right? For the boys, I threw together an ice cube tray smorgasbord.
As the day drew to an end, Scott motioned to the armoire in our bedroom and asked me to open it. Inside I found a birthday present for him. A present that he bought himself. A present that he put his own bow on.
Yes, my husband had to take care of his own birthday present too.
I guess the very least that I can do is wish my darling, wonderful, loving husband a belated happy birthday!
It sounds like he still had fun!ReplyDelete
Happy Belated Birthday to Scott!ReplyDelete
BTW, the eclair looked yummy!
