So many lists, so little time...

By reading my blog you'd never know that I majored in Professional Non-Fiction Writing in college. (Yes, that was a real major at my university.) I'm an editor by nature. Give me something already written and I can make it better. But if, I have to start from scratch...forget about it. The only thing I'm proficient at are lists. I love to write lists. I make lists for:
  • grocery stores, Costco and Target which I organize by the items' location in the store
  • places to travel to someday
  • to-do items which I divide into three categories: errands, small things to accomplish at home like phone calls and emails, and larger home projects like organizing the pantry
  • things around the house to donate
  • possible blog posts
And, of course, I couldn't resist putting my lists in a list!

The first post

So at dinner tonight, I announced, "I decided to start a blog today." My boys (Jack and Logan) were having what they call a singing shrieking contest so they ignored me...what a surprise. My husband gets bonus points for not only being able to hear me but for actually listening to me. Of course, he smirked and asked if it would be a blog about an under-appreciated housefrau.

Why I would choose to start a blog today...don't ask me! I have a to-do list as long as my arm. Christmas is a mere 24 days away ad I haven't bought a thing. I need to use the breadmaker I so desperately wanted but have only actually used once. I need to buy presents for some upcoming birthday parties. I need to organize my son's preschool's holiday party. Oh, and I'd like to learn Mandarin but I think that will have to wait a bit.

I'm realizing that this is my first ever post and as such it should have some weight, some depth. At the very least it should be about something important...a life altering event...a momentous occasion. But it's not. It's about all the things I should be doing instead of procrastinating by starting a blog. And just to prove my talent for procrastination, it took me all day to write this post because I kept fidgeting with the layout and adding gadgets like book and blog lists. The real test comes tomorrow. Will I write another entry or procrastinate on my latest endeavor?
